I have written the book, Till Death Do We Part, and created this website to encourage those of us suffering in silence to come out from behind closed doors and relish the joy that awaits us on the other side of terror. All of us deserve a fate of greater value and need only to look forward to a safe and joyous tomorrow. I am sacrificing my anonymity, by using my life story, to demonstrate that you, like me, can realize a brighter future. You can change the course of your inevitable demise from the ill-effects of physical and emotional abuse. Before we begin our journey together, I must urge you though to use a safe computer. Always remember that abusers tend to monitor home computers. Email, instant and text messaging are not safe to talk to someone about the danger or abuse that exists in your life. Instead call your local hotline, or the US National Domestic Violence Hotline at 1-800-799-7233 and TTY 1-800-787-3224. However, if you do use email or text messaging, use a safer computer and an account your abuser does not know about. Computers store information about your acitivities and make it easy for your abuser to know if you are trying to reach out for help. Think of it as footprints you are leaving behind. Safer computers are those you find at public libraries, community technology centers(CTC) and Internet Cafes. Use these computers to research this site, create an escape plan, look for jobs, buy bus tickets or reaching out for help. If you are in immediate danger, call 911. |
